Abstract
Social changes and the current regulatory framework referring to gender affect the conformation of the populations that demand our institutions. From Biochemical Care, we promote knowledge of the regulations that allow us to provide
our patients with a service in accordance with the new constructions of citizenship. In this sense, we reflect on two main axes: a social one that includes the identity of people and the new formation of families; and the other, focused on the bodies. We intend to challenge and urge biochemical professionals to incorporate a gender perspective
for a comprehensive Biochemical Care, with the objectives to: 1) contemplate and incorporate social and regulatory
changes into the act of care in clinical analysis laboratories, 2) ponder on bodies and their implication in people’s
health and 3) identify gender as a category of analysis in health research.
