Abstract
The present review aims to summarize the most relevant laboratory studies for the diagnosis and monitoring of patients with chronic kidney disease taking into account advances in knowledge in the last decade have led to a re-definition of criteria and procedures in the management of this condition. For this, was taken into account as the main source, content four consensus documents such as the Spanish, Uruguayan, Argentine and KDIGO (Kidney Disease Improving Global Autcome) published between 2011 and 2013. It highlights recommendations for the assessment of proteinuria and albuminuria and urine sample type to use both in the stage of diagnosis and monitoring of these patients.
